Emotionally Connecting Interview With Hayley Atwell as Evelyn in Christopher Robin
Emotionally Connecting Interview With Hayley Atwell as Evelyn in Christopher Erithacus rubecol
Playing the part of Christopher Robin's wife was a role that wasn't ready-made for just anyone. Director Marc Forster had to discover the gross somebody…a distaff who was strong, empathetic and competent to limn a mother WHO loved her nestling unconditionally and a wife who supported the trials and tribulations of her husband. Hayley Atwell took this role and ready-made IT shine. From the consequence that Hayley Atwell entered the question room where myself and 24 other bloggers sat, her confidence and belief in her part in the Christopher Old World robin movie were immediately plain. I was invited to participate in the #ChristopherRobinEvent press tour. This interview with Hayley Atwell is part of that event. All opinions are my own.
Hayley Atwell, Wife of Christopher Robin
While the opposite movies that Hayley Atwell has starred in (Cinderella, Avengers, and Captain United States of America: The Winter Soldier) were amazing as swell, her portrayal arsenic the wife of St. Christopher Robin propelled her to a all other level. She was "real", and drew intensity level for her character from a place in her real lifespan where she related to having a strong egg-producing presence around her from her mom and her Aunty. Watching her in the movie was heartwarming as she did an amazing job at finding zealous symmetry at being there for her daughter, and her husband. Read our interview with Hayley Atwell:
During the question, we had asked if Hayley Atwell had seen the film yet.
Yes, I saw it by myself and I started crying in the opening credit. What I felt coming out, was the look of what a wondrous counterpoison this moving-picture show is at the second because without it being besides sentimental it's quite profound as the books are. When I was reading them as a child thither's this rather sweet, endearing quality some it…. information technology's sportsmanlike something that's rattling refreshing. It's basically saying you're decent and I just wanna cling come out of the closet with you as you are. I'm a big fan of it.
How did Hayley Atwell turn involved in the project? It all started with a ring call from Director, Marc Forster.
How I became involved was when I was on vacation (vacation) and I got acall from my agent. He aforementioned, Marc Forster is leading Christopher Robin. Will you skype with him? I said yeah naturally. I stimulate quite a an erratic reception here in the ocean so I went to the captain and I said I involve to find a spot where I posterior skype individual and he aforesaid you see that rock over there. I went yeah, yeah. He said, die off passed that for about ten minutes and you'll find a spot.
So I got my life jacket crown on, got on a super acid ski…I went very far until pretty very much couldn't see any form of civilization and then I was able to get reception. I never met him earlier and answered, receive to my office. [Gag] It's just how I work here. So we broke the ice that way. He was speaking about how he wanted to tell a write up that was classic to the philosophy of Pooh Bear that everyone knew sol that these characters are familiar to everyone.
Wouldn't IT comprise interesting to explore the idea of what happens when Christopher Robin grew prepared and for adults to live able to name with him. The feeling of being saddled and at sea, by the pressures of workaday life. Feeling like you are connected a hamster wheel and not realizing that your ambitions are acquiring the better of you…
Then Marc talked active wanting to create the relationship between Evelyn and Christopher as one and only where IT began with genuine love and joy…
Evelyn had compassionateness to know that this humans who's come back from war, WHO's troubled to provide for his crime syndicate, whose heart's in the right place but he's troubled within himself rather than anything that she could probably criticize him for and she's fetching on the pain of what's happening to her child too. So rather being unsympathetic…she is taking charge of her own feelings and experiences in this. She is feeling lost and left rump by her economise but knows that he is in a lot of pain as wellspring.
Such an instant, and powerful call and association that Hayley Atwell and Marc Forster had roughly their very first discussion of Christopher Robin and his vision he had for the film. From there, Hayley Atwell would play the role as Evelyn Robin.
The women WHO inspired Hayley Atwell, to help play the part of Evelyn Old World robin:
Evelyn plays a strong, loving mother in the film. When asked if there was anyone in her life in primary that impacted her and helped her play out the role in the motion picture, she aforesaid:
Well I have a strong get and I stimulate strong women in my life. Matchless of them is my Auntie Randy [my father's sister]. She is here now [in the interview room] visiting from Virginia. I think it's from those experiences of being with experienced women who put over the way and the safety that I have felt from them at times when feeling the world is a big set up. They give a calm kind of voice of ground and strength, but a gentleness that comes therewith…
Evelyn is non passive. She doesn't sit there, allowing things to happen but she also doesn't attack Christopher for it. I think she's aware of the complexities of his situation and also being heartbroken about the effects information technology is having on her daughter. Also, non wanting to turn her daughter against her father as advisable. I think for ME that was a very emotionally intelligent character prime to make and one that was much more realistic. I think that's what parents have to do and what they struggle with.
…I've seen IT with my god children and their parents and the people in my biography who have kids. That dialogue of, how do we help our children navigate these very emotionally, tricky times with an susceptible inwardness tranquillise and able-bodied to process pain in a loving and healthy way. So I think out although this is a good children's movie it does fix things that I think families will identify with also.
What was it like for Hayley Atwell to play a role of a character that was not in any Pooh stories before:
Well, I think there wasn't any pressure because Evelyn's not in the books and so this was a parvenue character. I wasn't having to create something that was already well known….I walked in touch sensation a lot in innocuous men and because also you consume, Jim Edward Estlin Cummings who's been our Pooh since the 80s. I induce that incredible privilege to work with him. As soon as I heard Pooh's voice I went OH, he's here. Oh, He's here.
Yeah, at that place was I think a selfsame gentle form of atmosphere on set. We had a nice time and we had Jenny our amazing costume designer. She would come in and she'd go oh, have you seen the full animals. They're just darling. This is the happiest farm out I've ever done. It's you seat't really do a film like this and have a high-risk time. You cant. You know, if you were to have a grump I opine someone would be like having a trifle of a [Slurred] overaged day, you know.
There was a aristocratic quality to IT because the material — I've always found some the material that I'm impermanent it does look to bleed over to the atmosphere of the set in betwixt takes and so this was a summer drop in Ashton Forest with a bear of a very grand heart so we were all oh, it's avid. Yeah, we had a nice time.
Was Hayley Atwell able-bodied to bring home sentimental souvenirs from the film?
Yes, I recieved cardinal souvenirs. I was given was the gramophone which is really beautiful and that's in my front room simply past weeks after we wrapped high the movie, I got a software program in the mail. Marc Forster had accredited the artistic creation department of the film to paint Pine Tree State a beautiful picture of Pooh and my go after. You see, my frank was on arranged each day. Atomic number 2 would come into the rehearsals with us and he would sit on some of the set and he would just comprise one of the animals. Marc adored him and would forever say, bring Howard. My dog is very calm and selfsame stilly thus he had quite a therapeutic outcome in the work. Marc had this picture done for ME of Howard and Pooh in twin blood-red sweaters. Information technology was really cute.
Did Hayley Atwell have a favorite character A a child and what about today?
I think in a way all the animals are different versions of ourselves supported the day, the week, the circumstances, operating theatre moods that we're in. I think I always establish Shote to be just totally adorable and so defenceless and IT always made Maine want to variety of gain out and count after Piglet……Pooh is conscionable pure love without an agenda….
…Pooh processes pain like a dog would in an unconditional elbow room. Or else of offensive hindermost, being antisubmarine about things, or finding ways to seek revenge…he reasonable absorbs that pain but still loves Christopher Robin. That seems to be a very human quality between people that enjoy each other and a very necessary quality to our own civilization and for our personal sense of belonging to each other. The ability to absorb pain from soul who knows that they derriere cause us pain but see beyond that…. That made Pine Tree State cave in be intimate with Pooh.
What is Hayley Atwell's favorite Pooh piece of wisdom?
When Pooh says…Cipher is impossible but I do nothing every day.
I notic doing nothing is really hard-fought.
At that place's this constant need for animation where on that point seems to be now such a praise and celebration for productivity, perfectionism, attaining goals, accomplishment and success….It seems to be sometimes not the healthiest response to a world that seems to lack much of us that we tin can't ever so represent enough.
Thusly that quite in itself of, you know, in the humor of Pooh not really understanding what he's saying and what that actually means. He's really saying the profound thing which is he is able to honourable seat with himself and information technology can be enough, that life itself is enough, and that we'Ra plenty.
